01 About

Welcome to my creative universe! My name is Sophie, and it's with immense pleasure that I welcome you here. Throughout my life, I've always paid particular attention to elegance, refinement, and hospitality, whether in my personal life, professional endeavors, or simply as a customer in a public space.

When the West meets the East ….

Flowers have always been an integral part of my environment. Their presence brings an unparalleled sense of peace and well-being to my interior. Over the years, I've noticed that Western floral decoration often boils down to an abundance of flowers in a vase, a colorful spectacle lacking true artistic intention.

That's why, upon my arrival in Tokyo in 2011, I was immediately drawn to Japanese floral art, Ikebana. Intrigued and eager to learn, I joined the Sogetsu school, without realizing how much this decision would transform my life.

The open and innovative philosophy of modern Ikebana immediately captivated me. Founded by Sofu Teshigahara in 1927, the Sogetsu school advocated for a groundbreaking approach to floral art, allowing everyone to create freely, anywhere, and anytime.

Becoming a Sogetsu Ikebana teacher in 2016, I fully embraced this vision of creativity. For me, modern Ikebana transcends cultural boundaries, linguistic barriers, and aesthetic dogmas. It liberates the artist from traditional constraints to express their unique vision of the world.

Through Ikebana, I've learned that creativity is a universal language, a way to communicate with the world around us. It's this passion for artistic expression and sharing that drives Atelier Reiwa, a place where patience, observation, and respect for nature come together to create unique and ephemeral works.
